While we are very comfortable scheduling readings and answering questions about readings or Janice's public events via email, please be aware that Janice is unable to respond to personal questions through email.
Length of Readings
A typical reading is 30 minutes. Most people find they get what they need within this time frame. Janice receives information from Spirit very clearly and rapidly, and she attempts to communicate that information in a true, efficient manner. Occasionally, people seeking spiritual consultation with a number of questions or desiring contact with a number of loved ones in Spirit may find that an hour-long reading is more useful. We assume when people contact us for a reading, they want a 30 minute reading, and that is what we schedule unless otherwise specified. If you feel you need more time, please let us know when we are scheduling and we will schedule an hour time slot.
Payment and Deposits
We are only able to accept US dollars. You can pay in cash, or by check or money order. We do not take credit or debit cards, or use Paypal. Payment is due at the time of the reading for in-person appointments. Telephone readings must be paid for prior to scheduling the reading.
We require a deposit for in-person readings in Lily Dale when more than two people are scheduling and when the appointment is more than 10 days prior to the date of the reading. When we schedule, we will ask you to send your deposit immediately ($40 for a half-hour reading, $85 for an hour reading). The remainder ($25 or $35, respectively) is due at the time of the reading.
Scheduling and Holding Appointments
We schedule appointments for both in-person and telephone readings as they are available. Telephone readings are booked at least two weeks in advance, once payment is received. In-person readings are scheduled when Janice has openings. Our main telephone number is 412-264-5537.
During the summer season at Lily Dale (end of June to the end of August), you can call our local number in Lily Dale (716-595-2467) to check on availability if that is more convenient. We check email requests for appointments daily, and more frequently during the summer season at Lily Dale, if you prefer to contact us via the internet.
We will hold your appointment for in-person readings for 15 minutes past the time of the appointment, after which time you will lose the slot. You may sign up for a new time slot if one is available on the daily schedule posted outside the reading room.
Cancellation Policy
We request 24-hour notice for the cancellation of all appointments. If you are unable to make a scheduled appointment, please call and cancel, even it is less than 24 hours before the appointment so we may make the time slot available to someone else. If you are cancelling an appointment less than 24 hours before your time slot between June 20 and September 1, please call the Lily Dale phone number (716-595-2467) to notify us of the cancellation. In all other cases, please email us, or call and leave a message at 412-264-5537.
If you cancel a telephone reading less than 24 hours of the appointment, your payment for the reading is forfeited. You may schedule another telephone reading (which will require another payment).
If you cancel an in-person reading less than 24 hours of the appointment or simply don't show up, your name will be put on a "do not schedule" list. (In this case, if you still want a reading with Janice, you may check Janice's availability in Lily Dale by consulting the daily schedule posted outside the reading room.)
If you have paid a deposit and cancel an in-person reading less than 24 hours of the appointment, you will forfeit your deposit.
Group Readings
In general, Janice does not encourage readings involving more than one person for several reasons. (There are specific exceptions to this policy; see the next paragraph for details.) One reason is that she cannot guarantee that all the people in the reading will receive information or contact from Spirit; for example, one person may receive all the focus in a group reading. This can be upsetting to others who are looking for information as well. Secondly, Janice is committed to communicating whatever information Spirit brings to her. Sometimes this information is very personal and may be emotionally charged for the person receiving the information. Although a group reading may seem attractive beforehand, people often appreciate the privacy that comes with an individual reading once they are having the reading. Thirdly, group readings can be overwhelming, with too many loved ones and/or spirits competing for attention.
The exceptions to this policy involve people who are very significant to each other. Sometimes spouses or life partners or even a whole family need to be in a reading together if they have suffered a recent traumatic event or loss. At times, family members want to contact specific loved ones. In these situations, Janice may make an exception for a joint reading. In certain circumstances, a couple, a parent-child pair, or two siblings may benefit from a joint reading. When family members are interested in coming as a group (i.e., more than two people), Janice often suggests a set amount of time for the group, followed by individual readings for each person. If you feel a joint reading might be appropriate for you, please talk with us and we will work with you to determine what we think would be most useful. Also, for your information, the fee for a joint 30 minute reading is $85 (instead of $65).
